Danielle’s Update 6/11/2012

June 11, 2012

I know people want to know what is going on, so I figured it’d be easier to write it here. We went for the pathology report today and the Dr. said Danielle has cancer in the breast and lymph node, which makes it stage 2 A.
The Dr. wants Danielle to begin Chemo as quick as possible. His concern is the cancer is in the lymph node so there is concern it could be somewhere else in the body. He said that chemo would begin to kill any “loose” cancer immediately. She will have chemo for 6 months (1 round every 3 weeks for 8 sessions.)

After the chemo we will figure out about surgery. We should hear from the Oncologist tomorrow and get an appointment to meet with her to find out when things will begin.
Danielle will be having surgery Saturday morning at 7:30AM at Southern Regional to have a port put in for the chemo.

Probably more but my mind is sort of numb.

What can you pray about?
Pray the Pet Scan comes back negative. This would mean the cancer is contained to the areas we already know about.

Pray for us emotionally. This has been a difficult past week.

Pray for healing!!! Our God is still bigger than this and can heal in what way He feels fit!
The Dr. also says there is a 7% chance the chemo will totally dissolve the tumor and kill all cancer…Pray that we are part of the 7!

Pray for continued encouragement. It has been amazing the encouragement has come…pray that will continue.

Pray for our girls. They are so innocent and I pray they learn and grow closer to our creator through this.
Pray for us to have great times as a family together!

Thanks so much!

    Brian,
This breaks my heart. I can’t believe how many women in my circle of friends are battling cancer. It scares me and makes me sad. I pray for strength for you and Danielle. I’m praying that through the midst of this journey God will be glorified. I’m also praying for a quick recovery for Danielle.
    Love y’all,
    Brandy

Brian, continuing to pray for you and Danielle here. Though our family has never been touched by breast cancer particularly, we are LIVING proof that He can heal–my brother had Hodgkin’s Disease (cancer of the lymph nodes) in 1994, during his senior year of high school. He finished in November of 1994 with his radiation/chemo and has been cancer-free ever since! My father was diagnosed in the Fall of 2010 with prostate cancer and had radiation through Thanksgiving; he is now cancer free as well. 🙂 Please know I’m not trying to compare stories, but as a reminder that we belong to the very same God who is able to do exceeding abundantly all that we can ask or think!!!! Love you guys!!!

Hi Brian and Danielle. Marty and I are in Doug and Christy’s lifegroup so we got the message to pray. Pray, we have…and pray we will. Nothing is impossible for God! And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. Rom 8:28. We are praying for peace and healing.

As a fellow breast cancer patient, I know the things flashing through Danielle’s mind. Please tell her that God has complete control of every cell in her body and that He can calm the raging sea in her mind and body. God lead me to a wonderful Oncologist named Dr. R Moravinieni with Ga Cancer Specialist in Griffin. He has been so encouraging and reassuring while being truthful and honest. Please tell her to call me if she needs to talk. Lauren can give you my number. Praying!

Lots of friends! Count us as some of them. Miss you guys! I have a great nephew (13) who has Class 4 and I have been there with him at Scottish Rite. It’s tough chemo. But as you said, God is still on the throne and is still in the healing business. All us Griffins are praying and have been for days. Hang in there, both of you! God’s not through with either one of you yet!

So many familiar themes and feelings conveyed in your requests, Brian. Know you can call on us in whatever way, whenever you want to, and we’re here for y’all. Terry might be able to ease fears for Danielle and encourage her in unique ways. We care so deeply, and we are praying for you all. ~Terry and Beth Durden
